Ragi Drink | Finger Millet Drink | Diabetes Diet Food

Ragi Drink or Finger Millet Drink is another wonderful drink that you can enjoy if you want to follow a Diabetes Diet. There are lot of dishes that you can make with Ragi, apart from the Ragi Sangati. We can make a similar salad like this Pearl Millet Salad with Sesame and Jaggary.

This drink is made from whole ragi that was soaked and left to sprout. You can either sprout it or make a powder from the regular grains. All these kind of drinks or soups makes gives you enough energy and calorie that is needed to get your day go on.
We make rotis, rice, Dosas with Ragi flour.

Ragi Drink - Savory Version

Ingredients Needed:

Ragi Whole grains - 1 cup

Salt to taste
Pepper powder - per taste

Method to prepare:

Without sprouting

Wash and soak the Finger millet in water for about an hour or two. Drain and shade dry the millets.

Once it is dry, powder it to an almost fine powder. If it is little coarse, it is fine. This powder can be stored and used in amounts as required.

With sprouting:

Follow the same process for soaking and continue soaking for a day. Then follow the same process to sprout the Millets.

Follow the procedure to sprout. Once the millets sprouts, shade dry them till they get dry. Powder and store.

Nutrient value of sprouted Millet is many times more than regular ones.

To make the drink:

Take required amount of the ragi flour. Mix with lukewarm water, else it will not get evenly mixed.

Add twice the amount of water and bring to boil. Before serving you can add salt and pepper for taste.

Will post a sweet version of this drink later.
